About Us
We are a high volume craft cocktail bar & coffee shop in downtown Asheville that specializes in classic coffee drinks alongside a carefully crafted seasonal drink menu. Our coffee and cocktail menus rotate every three months, and all of our syrups, infusions, and prep are done in-house. We have a small team that excels in setting ourselves apart through a combination of excellent service and crafting outstanding drinks.
The Job
This application is for a daytime barista position. Weekend availability is required, must be 21 years or older to apply.
Our coffee shop is open from 10am-4pm Wednesday-Sunday with counter service for coffee and cocktails. Shifts generally run from 9am-5pm. Baristas at The Times are responsible for taking all orders at the register for coffee and cocktails, crafting and executing a full range of coffee drinks, and assisting the bartender with running drinks, polishing glassware, and bussing tables. No bartending experience is required, but baristas are expected to become familiar with our cocktail menu and spirit list in order to assist guests with their menu selections. We are a small crew in a fast-paced environment, so finding someone who fits with the culture of our business and staff is extremely important to us.
Tips are split evenly per shift with the bartender and other baristas, and the hourly wage with tips ranges from $24-$30 an hour. We guarantee the Asheville living wage of $22.10/hour. Please note that while our bar program and barista program exist alongside each other, we typically do not offer the potential to move into a bartending position. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a high-volume craft coffee shop, who is confident in making classic coffee drinks.
