Each President's Choice bottle is aged for 7 - 9 years and then hand selected and bottled at a proof point carefully chosen by the Old Forester assistant master distiller and master taster. Each barrel is unique, yet exceptional.

Barrel #40 is one of the earlier releases from this line (and one of the best reviewed). It opens with aromas of vanilla and warm leather, and gives way into rich jammy flavors of ripe plum and dried fruit. The high rye content and ABV bring a significant amount of heat, before melting into smooth and lengthy finish full of brown sugar, cinnamon, and butterscotch.

 

We recommend giving this one a few minutes to open up and sipping slowly to appreciate the slow burn of this superb rye whiskey.
